Blue Devil Freshman Avenge 2011 Loss

The Blue Devil Freshman football team avenged a loss from their eighth grade season by beating Troy 42-0. The Blue Devils put away the Trojans early as they raced out to a 35-0 halftime lead. With the win, the Blue Devils improved to 7-2 on the season. Coach Wildrick was very proud of the teams effort this season. This is one of the most improved and hardest working teams Coach Wildrick has been associated with. Coach Wildrick would like to thank the players, parents and fans for their support this season. Blue Devil Freshman WB6 Conference Champions

On Saturday October 13, 2012 the Galesburg Silver Streaks traveled to Quincy with hoped of preventing the Blue Devils from claiming the Western Big Six Conference Championship. Galesburg came out and gave a great effort, but the Blue Devils were determined to come out on top. The Devils controlled the line of scrimmage and used a great team effort to defeat the Streaks.  The final score of the game was QHS 14 and GHS 6. Coach Wildrick would like to congratulate the team on being Western Big Six Freshman Football Champions 4-0 record. The Devils travel to Troy, Missouri on Monday October 22, 2012 to end the regular season. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Troy.

Freshman Blue Devils Handle UT

On Saturday October 6, 2012 the Panthers from United Township visited Flinn Stadium with hopes of taking down the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils came out of the lockerroon fired up and took control of the game right away. The Devils played hard, physical, and smart football as they beat UT 30-8. With the win the freshman Blue Devils improved to 5-2 on the season and 3-0 in the WB6. Next week the Blue Devils face Galesburg with the conference championship on the line. With a win the Blue Devils win the WB6 outright. Game time is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Quincy's beautiful Flinn Stadium.

Blue Devils Take Down Maroons

On Saturday September 29, 2012 the Freshman Blue Devil Football team traveled to Moline to take on the Maroons. This game was a classic battle of two good teams. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 16-6 halftime lead. The Maroons were determined to make the Blue Devils work hard for a win. In the end, the Blue Devils prevailed winning by a score of 22-18. This was a great win for the team and the program. Win the win, the Blue Devils took over the lead in the WB6 race. Currently, the Blue Devils are 2-0 in the conference and host United Township next Saturday at Flinn Stadium in Quincy. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m. Good Luck Devils!

Blue Devils Pound Grayhounds 46-15

On Tuesday September 25, 2012, the Quincy Blue Devils Freshman football team travelled to Burlington to face the Grayhounds. From the beginning the Devils showed that they were ready to play. On their first posession, the Devils scored to make the score 6-0. The Blue Devils went for two and made it making the score 8-0. The scoring would continue into halftime as the Blue Devils lead 26-7. The Blue Devils scored early and often in the second half to win the game 46-15. At halftime the Blue Devils had rolled up 320 yards rushing. In the second half the Blue Devils rushed for 130 yards giving the team 450 total yards on the ground. The Offensive and Defensive lines controlled the line of scrimmage. The backs ran hard and did a fantastic job of carrying out fakes. The coaches were pleased with the team's effort. The Blue Devils play again September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Browning Field in Moline. The Blue Devils and Maroons should be a classic battle. Go Devils!!!

Blue Devils Come Up Short

The Quincy Blue Devils Freshman football team fell to the Jeff City Jays by a score of 32-14 on September 20, 2012. The Blue Devils scored first making the score 8-0. The halftime score was 14-8 Jeff City. The Blue Devils would score one more time in the 3rd Quarter to give them 14 total points Blue Devils lost, Coach Wildrick saw some great efforts from the team. The Blue Devils are in action next week at Burlington High School . Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Burlington High School on September 25, 2012. Let's go get us a win!!

Freshman Win at Rocky

The QHS Freshman football team traveled to Rock Island to take on the Rocks on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The Blue Devils accomplished what they set out to do, which was to crush the Rocks. The Blue Devils won the contest 12-6. This was a huge win for the Blue Devils program since winning at Almquist Field is a rare occasion for the visiting team. The game was tied 0-0 at halftime, but after halftime the Blue Devils came out and showed the Rocks that today was their day and they meant business. Coach Wildrick was very proud of the determination and effort the team displayed. Coach Wildrick believes a solid team is built on defense. To date through 3 games the Blue Devils are giving up an average of 11.0 points per game. Up next for the Blue Devils are the Jeff City Jays who come into the contest with a 2-1 record. Game time is set for Thursday September 20, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Flinn Stadium in Quincy.

Freshman Blue Devils fall 20-0 to Hannibal

On Friday August 31, 2012 the QHS Freshman Blue Devils football team fell to the Hannibal Pirates 20-0. The score was 8-0 Pirates at halftime. The Blue Devils had opportunities in the second half, but penalties and miscues led to missed opportunities. The Blue Devils played very well defensively for three and a half quarters. This game is a great rivalry game and a huge game for the team to play in. The Blue Devils play next at Rock Island at 10:00 am on 09/15/12. All players will receive a packet from Coach Wildrick with game info on 9/10/12 after practice.

Freshman beat Alton 23-7

On Saturday August 25, 2012 the QHS Freshman Blue Devils beat the Alton Redbirds 23-7. It was a great performance defensively by the Blue Devils. The Redbirds lone score came when they picked off a Blue Devil pass and ran it back for a touchdown. The Blue Devils controlled the line of scrimmage offensively and defensively.

Welcome to my Blog

Coach Wildrick is entering his sixth year as a coach with the Blue Devils. This season he will be the Head Freshman coach. Coach Wildrick will also help out in the booth on Friday nights. He is a Hamilton alumnus and has a wealth of knowledge and energy to provide for the Blue Devils. Currently he is teaching PE and Health in the Quincy School District after graduating from Western Illinois University. Coach Wildrick also has a MA in Administration from William Woods University.
